windows

One of our big projects this summer was installing new windows upstairs. My favorite was this one over our stairs. What a difference it has made. I don't have many visitors but this way when I try to describe what it looks like they can view it on the blog.

canning peaches

On Monday, Labor Day, Mark and I were driving to Neola and Mark mentioned a sign he saw that said, peaches, new grove, pick your own. Well yesterday I drove up the highway to investigate the matter. I was amazed to find this couple with a grove of over 600 peach, apple, plums, apricot trees. The lady said I could go pick some to sample. Well they were good so I called in the troops and found some boxes. Mark, Stacy and kids helped me pick peaches. This was a new experience for us. We had never picked peaches like that. We would find a tree and sample a peach. If we liked it we picked more, if it wasn't to our liking we went on to another tree. But they were very ripe and so tonight, bless Stacy's heart, we canned peaches on my new cook top. Actually Jan & Gary's old one that they gave away. Anyway it took some getting used to using. Tired, but a good tired.

branding in Colorado

The first weekend of June, Mark and I went to Norwood, Colorado to help with branding. Here is a photo of the breed they raise, Romenoa, I think? They are a lean beef breed.

Mark's accident

Mark had a run in with the wheel line sprinkler. Where two joint come together with a clamp, as he was taking them apart to do some repairs, they were in a bind because of some water inside and one end flip up and hit him on his right side of his face, shattering his glasses, cutting his eyelid and cheek. After a cat scan at the hospital it was determined that he had a broken nose and fractures along his eye socket and the sinus area along with a mild concusion. The doctor put 4 stitches in his eyelid and some glue on his cheek cut. Lortab eased his pain. We are thankful that it wasn't any worse. He is lucky and blessed.

Horses in Kentucy / graduation in Indianna

It wouldn't be a complete trip to Kentucky without horses. We visited a horse park in Lexington and then spent a day at Church Hill Downs watching races. And to complete the trip we attended graduation ceremonies for Jan receiving her masters degree in nursing. Way to go Jan. All in all it was quite a trip.

Children's Museum in Cincinnati

One day we spent at the Newport Aquarium near Cincinnati and then
we had a fun time at a really neat children's museum. The kids did not want to leave. Notice the beautiful buliding on the outside. Actually there were several museums in this one building.

Fun at the Waterfront

One of the funnest days in Kentucky was when we went to the Waterfront. We had a picnic lunch and the kids played and played. It was warm enough to have fun in the water.

Kentucky visit

On May 2, 2009 our oldest grandchild, Logan was baptised and our youngest, Tyler was blessed by their father Lonnie. It was a special day for our family. Tony & Stacie with their Rylee and Eric were present. Also Wayne & Stacy with their Anna, Megan and David flew out for the occasion and a little vacation. Grandma Etta came along also. We were quite the crew.
