Backyard reunion fun 2010

Our reunion began on July 1, 2010 in the backyard. It all started with a sprinkler on the back lawn. One kid runs by and the next sits on top of it and then....well you get the idea. Fun, fun, fun.

Here ary my sad looking cucumbers, but I think they will make it.
Also here is my flower bed as it looks today. You may notice how all the plants are leaning. That is because the wind is blowing, just like it does every afternoon.

June Garden

I wish I knew how to run this program better. Things may be out of order. Sorry.
Katrina inspired me to take some photos of my garden. That is where I spend a lot of my time. I do enjoy seeing things grow and eating the harvest. Here are some pictures of my peas and potatoes that are up and doing well. In the tires are the tomatoes. The poor cucumbers had a beating last week with the wind, but I think they will make it. I also have lettuce, spinach and beets planted. Of course squash but they are not up yet. I'm trying something new this year. I planted my corn next to the peas, so when the peas are done producing which will be in about 3 weeks, I will pull up the plants and the corn will keep on going I hope. The corn is not up yet. I planted that just a week ago. Our weather is quite warm now. We went from a cold spring to a hot June. I stay busy keeping everything wet. That is a challenge in my desert climate. If you look back on my older posts I show my tulips. Well look at this same flower bed and what is blooming now. Beautiful Iris. Next week the green plants in the foreground will start blooming. They are dasies. I'll try to remember to take more photos as thing progress.

Signs of Spring

We grow lots of tulips and baby colts. After a long winter evidences of new growth cheer the heart. We planted potatoes today and the peas are up.

April snow

On Thursday, April 29th, we woke up to this scene. It was a nice wet snow giving us the needed moisture. I took this photos with my phone as I was backing out of the driveway on my way to work. I'm getting a little more high tech. Wow!

Grandpa Ed & Patsy

Mark had transportation meetings in St. George. Dad and I went with a group on an ATV adventure near Washington Dam NE of St. George. We had fun in this Rhino seeing the sights and riding the dunes.

Pine Valley

The next day we took a ride NW of St. George up Snow Canyon and discovered this place in the mountains, with the help of Bob Thurgood, Pine Valley. The unique thing is this old chapel erected in 1868 and still in use today. You may be able to read about the building on the plaque.

Zion's

After Mark's conference we packed up, left St. George and drove through Zion's National Park. Here we are on the cold windy day seeing the sights.

Bryce's Canyon

We drove on over to Bryce's Canyon and stayed at Ruby's Inn, a nice western place with a huge lodge. The snow made everything beautiful but a bit cold for viewing. So our looking was quick. We drove over to Esclante and through Boulder the next day and what beautiful country we live in. My camera battery had died so I didn't get any photos of that area. Next time.
